Biography
Die Flötistin Wally Hase wurde in Freiburg/Brsg. geboren und war Schülerin von Prof. Karl Friedrich Mess.
1986 begann sie bei ihm ihr Studium an der Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart, nachdem sie im gleichen Jahr
ein Stipendium zum Weltjugendorchester in die USA geführt hatte. Ihr Studium setzte sie bei
Prof. Jean-Claude Gérard und Prof. Aurèle Nicolet fort.
Als Mitglied im Festspielorchester Ludwigsburg unternahm Wally Hase Tourneen nach China, Japan und Südamerika. 1989 konzertierte sie in Neuseeland beim Festival of the Arts. 1990 war sie Stipendiatin der Richard-Wagner-Gesellschaft Bayreuth. Zwischen 1990 und 1993 war sie Mitglied im Karlsruher Ensemble 13 sowie im Bach Collegium Stuttgart unter der Leitung von Helmuth Rilling.
Bereits vor Beendigung ihres Studiums wurde Wally Hase mit 22 Jahren Soloflötistin der Staatskapelle Weimar, diese Position hatte sie bis 2009 inne. Seit 2008 verbindet sie eine regelmäßige Zusammenarbeit mit der Camerata Salzburg.
Als Soloflötistin arbeitet sie u.a. mit der Staatskapelle Dresden, den Radiosinfonieorchestern
SWR Freiburg-BadenBaden, MDR Leipzig und WDR Köln und der Cappella Andrea Barca, Leitung Sir Andras Schiff.
Neben Solokonzerten wie z.Bsp. mit der Camerata Salzburg, der Dresdner Philharmonie, dem Folkwang Kammerorchester, der Robert Schumann Philharmonie Chemnitz tritt sie häufig als Kammermusikerin in Erscheinung – so im Duo mit dem Gitarristen Thomas Müller-Pering, dem Trio Lobkowitz Wien, dem Mandelring Quartett. Projekte „Musik & Lyric“ verbindet sie mit Prof. Dr. Jan Philipp Reemtsma.
2006 wurde sie mit dem Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik, 2007 mit dem Leopold ausgezeichnet.
2000 wurde Wally Hase als Professorin für Flöte an die Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar berufen, von 2014 bis 2018 hatte sie zusätzlich eine Gastprofessur an der Universität für Musik Krakau.
Seit Oktober 2018 ist Wally Hase Univ. Professorin für Flöte an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien.
Wally Hase führt ein reiches Konzertleben mit Recitals, Solokonzerten sowie Kammermusik und gibt Meisterkurse in Europa, Australien, Asien und Südamerika. Zahlreiche Aufnahmen bei verschiedenen Rundfunkanstalten, CD-Aufnahmen mit Solo – und Kammermusik und eine internationale Jurytätigkeit runden das Bild ihrer musikalischen Aktivitäten ab.

Flutist Wally Hase was born in Freiburg/Brsg. (Germany) and was a student of Prof. Karl Friedrich Mess. In 1986 she began her studies with him at the Hochschule fur Musik in Stuttgart after having performed that same year with the World Youth Orchestra in the USA through a fellowship. She continued her studies with Prof. Jean-Claude Gérard and Prof. Aurèle Nicolet.
As a member of the Ludwigsburg Festival Orchestra, Wally Hase participated in concert tours of China, Japan and South America. In 1989 she performed at the Festival of the Arts in New Zealand. She was a fellow of the Richard Wagner Society Bayreuth in 1990 and, from 1990 to 1993, a member of the Karlsruhe Ensemble 13 and the Bach Collegium Stuttgart under the direction of Helmuth Rilling.
Already before completing her studies, at the age of 22, Wally Hase became solo flutist with the Staatskapelle Weimar, a position she held until 2009. Since 2008 she has collaborated regularly with the Camerata Salzburg. She performs as solo flutist with various ensembles and orchestras, the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Cappella Andrea Barca, conducted by Sir András Schiff, the radio symphony orcherstras of SWR Freiburg-Baden Baden, MDR Leipzig and WDR Koln, and the Royal Flemish Philharmonic.
As well as being soloist with among others the Camerata Salzburg, the Dresden Philharmonic, the Folkwang Chamber Orchestra, and the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Chemnitz, she frequently appears as a chamber musician – in duos with the guitarist Thomas Muller-Pering, the pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja, the Trio Lobkowitz Wien and with the Mandelring Quartett. In addition she collaborates in “Music & Lyric” projects with Prof. Dr. Jan Philipp Reemtsma.
Her all-around engagement as soloist, chamber musician and founding member of various ensembles is complemented by CD recordings, as well as television and radio productions. In 2006 she was honored with the German Record Critics’ Award and in 2007 with the Leopold.
In 2000 Wally Hase was appointed Professor of Flute at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar; between 2014 and 2018 she was also guest professor for flute at the University of Music Krakow. In addition to this, Wally Hase maintains a busy schedule giving master classes throughout
Europe, Australia, Asia and South America. An international jury activity complete the picture of her musical activities.
In 2018 Wally Hase was appointed to the prestigious chair of Professor of Flute at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
